Lucie Merlier wins the 2025 Young Researcher Prize
Lucie Merlier, Associate Professor at Claude Bernard University Lyon 1, conducting her research within the “Building Thermal and Energy Systems and their Environment” (ThEBE) team at the CETHIL laboratory, has been awarded the 2025 Young Researcher Prize, presented by the Métropole de Lyon and the City of Lyon, in partnership with the Université de Lyon community of universities and institutions (ComUE).
This prize honors young researchers whose talent has been confirmed through outstanding postdoctoral research achievements, as well as through their commitment to sharing scientific knowledge and engaging with society.
Lucie Merlier received the award in the Exact Sciences category for her innovative work on urban overheating adaptation. Her research addresses one of today’s key societal challenges: how can urban areas—particularly within the Lyon Metropolis—adapt to the increasing intensity of heatwaves? Through this work, she contributes to the production of high-level scientific knowledge, its practical application in local contexts, and effective science communication with the general public.
We warmly congratulate Lucie on this recognition, which highlights the relevance, impact, and strong societal engagement of our research activities.
