October 2008: Best Poster Award at the 25th International Passive and Low Energy Architecture (PLEA) Conference: Towards Zero Energy Buildings

Valentin Gavan, PhD student at CETHIL, received the Best Poster Award in October 2008 at the 25th International PLEA Conference in Dublin, Ireland. He presented a publication titled Double-skin facade exhaustive simulation over combined thermal and daylight modeling Application to optimal control (whose co-authors are, C. Muresan, M. Jandon, M. Woloszyn, JJ Roux, D. Dumortier) .Valentin Gavan started his thesis in October 2006. He works in collaboration with the CSTB ("Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment"). He is interested in the energy performance of double-skin, fully glazed, active façades. After an experimental work to validate the thermal model on a real scale, he is now interested in the optimal management of solar protection and ventilation rates in these facades, especially to avoid the use of air conditioning systems in summer. His paper also summarizes the multidisciplinary work done in the framework of the ANR / PREBAT / RFI project (towards a "Régulateur de Façades Intelligentes") in collaboration with CSTB, SOMFY and ENTPE's LASH laboratory.
