Juin 2016 : Jocelyn Bonjour elected Chair of the Committee of the International Heat Pipe Conference
Jocelyn Bonjour, professor at INSA Lyon and director of CETHIL, was elected Chairman of the Committee on the International Heat Pipe Conference (IHPC) in Jeju (South Korea) on June 13th, 2016. He thus succeeds Professor Yuri Maydanik (ITP Ekaterinburg, Russia), who occupied the position since September 2004. Previously, J. Bonjour presided the national editing committee of the IHPC, which was held in Lyon in 2012.The international heatpipe conference brings together every two years the main academic and industrial players involved in the scientific, technological and application developments of these devices. The operation of the heat pipes is governed by heat transfer phenomena with change of liquid-vapor phase (boiling, evaporation, condensation). They are generally used for the thermal management ("cooling") of heat dissipating systems (e.g. components or electronic boards). They can also be implemented to intensify the heat transport for the improvement of the energy efficiency of energy conversion systems. In addition to its involvement in the organization of the conference, the international committee aims to animate this community and support its developments. J. Bonjour's mission is to raise awareness of the work on the theme of heat pipes, by working to structure the global communication on the subject.
